LOMOND participates in Paperworld since 2005

LOMOND participates in Paperworld since 2005 and this exhibition is the third one on which the company is presented with its own booth, which is growing bigger every time. This year our designers refused outright to use traditional corporative colours in booth's arrangement. Instead of it a font design was used for decoration of big vertical surfaces which played an informative role as well. "Ink Jet Paper", "Fine Art Paper", "Proofing Paper", "Color Laser Paper" - these signs and others of like formed an original pattern, aesthetically very archaic, but surely very functionally effective. Every visitor could easily determine the company’s scope of activity at the first view. No show-cases with production samples were presented at the booth. Instead a limited set of Lomond’s production packages was demonstrated on the central column. Maybe it’s a hint on how the leading company in CIS and Russia is going to come in the market of united Europe? Officially, the Lomond company was created in 1998 especially to penetrate developing digital printing markets of Russia and CIS, but what lead Lomond on to the central European trade-show? This is the matter of our conversation with Dmitry Mackulyak, official representative of Lomond in Russia and CIS.

- Dmitry, it’s obvious that there was some serious reason for Lomond’s presence at Paperworld. Are you intending to offer European customers your consumables?

At the present time we are actively selling our production in Eastern Europe, we have representatives in Czech Republic and Slovakia, Poland, Baltic countries. A booth at the exhibition is a very convenient place to meet your partners or to search for new ones. Representatives of our eastern European distributors are working here on our booth, so this exhibition is important in the first place because of a chance for them to have a closer conversation with the clients.

- Lomond’s inkjet printing paper series includes more than a hundred materials. Why only a limited set of samples was presented?

The situation on the western European market, especially in Germany, can be characterized with the following indexes: on the one side there is a very high business struggle in the inkjet paper sector of the market, on the other – the rate of its growth is noticeably lower than in the Eastern Europe of the CIS. That is why we tried to draw visitor’s attention to the most popular materials which we can offer to the western European market on a competitive price.

- What were the visitors mostly interested in?

In the first place – Fine Art series materials, self-adhesive photo paper. And also large-format media.

- Found new clients?

We’ve had a very intensive schedule of negotiations and meetings, including quite unexpected and unplanned ones. The subject-matters, as you understand, are a commercial confidentiality.
